Staying Motivated

How do I stay motivated? Well to tell you the truth, I’m not always motivated. Motivation comes and goes. There are several things that I do to either keep myself motivated or to get my motivation back after it has gone from a 10 to a 5. Podcasts, YouTube, Blog posts, and books are several of the ways I bring my motivation back to a 10. I don’t always do the same thing to get there, sometimes all it takes is listening to a podcast, or reading a book. Then I get back in the game, and hit it harder than before!

There are many different types of motivation that I pull from. Sometimes it is about Sales, Marketing, SEO, Social Media, Business, or Copy Writing. It usually isn’t the same thing every time. Sometimes I get knocked down a bit when I check my rankings and see a drop, or maybe my Google Analytics shows a drop in traffic. Or maybe I’ve gotten told NO by the 5th business owner when I’m selling them on my SEO agency.

Here are some of the top Podcasts, YouTube Videos, Blog posts, and books that get me going and bring me back to a 10!

Some of these people might not jive with how you think or could be considered abrasive. Especially Grant Cardone or even Derek Halpern. They bring a lot of energy to their videos. I think I might have offended someone by sending them a Derek Halpern YouTube video. I sent them this Basically Derek said if you aren’t building an email list you are an idiot. I knew she needed it, she was for a potential client. I signed up for her email newsletter and did not get any emails from her over a 4 week period!!!! The only email that I got was to confirm my subscription!!! Nothing! Totally insane to me.

Do you realize that the average person has only read 5 books in the last 12 months? Personally I’m shooting for 1 book a month. Which will put me about twice the average. Not bad, but not as good as one Stat that I heard saying that the top earning CEO’s read about 5 books a month! I’ll need to up the speed of my reading to be able to get there. I’m not a slow reader, but not a fast one either.

Do you all have any tips to increase your reading speed?

Have Read:

4hour-workweekThe Four Hour Workweek by Tim Ferriss – This book totally changed the way I thought about business and the way to go forward. I’m not sold on the 4 hour workweek for me, but I like the ideas Tim wrote about. I actually enjoy working, but want to be able to have the freedom to say “I’m not coming in the office today, or I need to take my daughter to her first day of school.” Or even just to be able to be home when she comes home from school. That is what I want.

how-to-win-friends-and-influence-peopleHow to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie

Wow! This book was great. Looking back a lot of it actually seems like common sense, but most of us do not implement what Dale writes about in this book.

emyth-revistedThe E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do about It by Michael E. Gerber

Game changer for my thoughts on business.

Totally killing it! John’s July Income was over 282K!

Motivation can be a crazy thing, it can be easy to be a Debbie Downer. Especially if things are not going the way you expect them to. Or if you have negative people in your life telling you that what you are doing won’t work.

Sell, Sell, Sell….Selling doesn’t have to be bad, or sleazy. As long as you are selling something that provides extreme value that you believe in 100% then selling isn’t bad.

So get out there and be motivated!! I know I’m about to explode after writing this post up!

Motivation can be tough. One book that really helped me was Kelly McGonigal’s “The Willpower Instinct”. It might not be the rough and tough kind of motivation, but it certainly gives you some science behind getting yourself doing the stuff you need to.
